YOGA LIFE WARRAGUL

ico-yoga-temple

Yoga Life runs yoga and meditation classes 6 days a week at 1 Victoria St, Warragul (above Apple Spice Cafe). The yoga studio is located only 5 minutes away from Drouin and 15 minutes from Trafalgar.

We offer Beginners yoga, Hatha yoga, Vinyasa yoga, Yin yoga, Yoga Nidra and Meditation. The classes will explore ancient yogic philosophy and practices, grounded in modern neuroscience and physiology.

At Yoga Life, we offer 26 sessions each week, with 5 different teachers to choose from.

At Yoga Life we focus on Growth, Discipline and Relaxation of body and mind, in order to help the soul flourish.

Yoga is designed to cultivate health and happiness, and a greater sense of self-awareness and clarity of mind. Health benefits include stress management, improved concentration, cardiovascular health, weight-loss and muscle strength.

Yoga is derived from an ancient practice from the Vedic tradition of India and the Himalayas. It cultivates physical and mental health and well-being through a range of breathing techniques, postures and meditation.

A common yoga class typically includes:

  • An introduction, including breathing exercises and relaxation
  • A physical warm up
  • Yoga postures, movements and stretches
  • Relaxation and meditation

Yoga is suitable for all ages and an ideal way to bring more balance and flexibility to your life.

If you have your own yoga mat, you are welcome to bring this along. Otherwise mats are available to hire at the studio for a gold coin donation which goes towards charity.

Please wear comfortable exercise clothing and bring a water bottle to stay hydrated during the sessions.

All classes are designed to suit both beginners and advanced students. We have beginners joining us every week so you are certainly not alone!

If you are new to yoga, please let the teacher know and they will guide you through the basics. Also please outline any injuries or health issues you might be working with that could affect your practice.

If you have been practicing yoga for awhile, please don’t hesitate to let us know how we can assist you to go deeper into your asana, pranayama and meditation practice.

Please keep in mind that we also offer one on one sessions which are a great way to kick off your practice to understand and improve your alignment and strength. This is also a great opportunity to tailor your practice if you are working with any injuries or weaknesses in the body.

Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned yoga practitioner, it is always important to go at your own pace and listen to what your unique body, mind and soul needs. Yoga is a very individualised practice and although we practice in a room with others, everybody comes to yoga for a wide variety of reasons. Please keep your intention (your “Yama”) very clear in your mind and remind yourself what you need to receive from each practice. We are in the class purely for ourselves – no one else.

We have four main class styles  on offer at the studio – Vinyasa, Hatha and Yin Yoga.

Vinyasa Yoga is our fastest style and focuses more on flowing between postures. This is an excellent way to increase the heart rate and receive a nurturing cardio-vascular and muscular workout. However we incorporate slower postures to encourage flexibility as well as deeper meditation into each session so the intensity is beautifully balanced. It is suitable to all levels, however definitely a little more vigorous than the other styles.

Hatha Yoga is a more gentle style and focuses more on strength and flexibility. You are holding each pose a little longer than Vinyasa and have more opportunity to work on the structure of each pose, as well as your meditation practice throughout the class.

Yin Yoga is our slowest style and much more meditative. You are holding poses for 2-5 minutes and working deeply on the flexibility of both muscles and muscle attachments. This is a beautiful opportunity to slow right down and breathe deeply, particularly if you lead a busy and fast paced life. Balancing out our Yin and Yang elements are very important for leading a healthy and sustainable lifestyle.

Meditation is a state of deep peace that occurs when the mind is calm and silent. In these classes you will learn various techniques to develop concentration, calmness, and emotional wellbeing. Meditation techniques may include pranayama (yogic breathing), mirror meditation, shadow meditation and walking meditation. The outcome of these beautifully relaxing classes are a profoundly peaceful and energised state of mind.

Whenever possible, we would advise booking into classes beforehand to ensure your spot is guaranteed. However if you don’t get time, we will accept walk ins until we reach full capacity.
